What is !Kontakte?

!Kontakte is a SaaS-based (Software as a Service) company. Our focus is on providing services to the global contingent workforce. We solve the logistics problem for employers with projects of all sizes, who require specialist, professional and technical contractors. Our service is in ‘real-time’.  Employers are able to search contractors to find those with the specialist skills required and who have immediate availability within a seven-day window.

An employer is able to contact contractors directly.

What’s with the exclamation mark in front of the word Kontakte?

!Kontakte is our brand name and the basis for our logo.  No one is quite sure of the origins of the exclamation mark. The Smithsonian Institute’s current theory is it comes from the Latin word ‘io,’ for the exclamation of joy and where the ‘I’ was written over the ‘o’. In Latin, all words are written in capital letters so the ‘io’ looked a lot like an exclamation mark.

With our service, we strive to make software that provides joy and delight to our customers by taking away their recruitment headaches.  We hope both contractors and employers will utter a Latinesque ‘io’ of joy when they use our products.

Is this service free?

Yes, Kontakte is free for all contractors to register. The only requirement is you must upload a Curriculum Vitae (CV) to complete your registration.

We have a premium “verified” feature which incurs a monthly subscription.

What are the premium features?

For a monthly subscription, !Kontakte will reference check your CV and certifications ensuring you are who you say you are. Once verified, your profile will receive a ‘verification mark’ that employers see. Companies trust our system and processes. An employer is more likely to trust a profile verified by the !Kontakte team.

How does the “freshness” feature on the availability button in the App work?

The freshness feature indicates how recently you updated your availability and reflects how accurate your availability is. Employers who may have a short notice ‘call out’ requirement will have higher confidence on your availability when they contact you. The more “fresh” or recently you have updated your availability, the higher ranked you will be on employer searches.

‘Availability’ lasts for seven days.  After that, your profile becomes ‘stale’ and you no longer appear high up in the search rankings by employers.

Is Kontakte an agent / recruitment / manpower company?

No, we are a software platform where employers contact contractors direct. All hiring terms and conditions are done independently from !Kontakte and are between employer and contractor. !Kontakte does not take a commission from contractors.

How does an employer register with !Kontakte?

Please reach out to us on our contact page or contact us directly, and we will be in touch.

I’m a contractor and have registered, what now?

Be sure you complete your profile, upload your CV and set your availability (the availability button should be a green colour for ‘available’). Once you have done this, you are now on the platform and are searchable by employers. Keep updating your availability to ensure higher chances of being hired. When an employer wants to hire you, they will contact you direct via an integrated call and messaging system integrated into our platform (they may also contact you via email/phone).

I’m a contractor, how do I know when an employer contacts, me they are a registered employer on the !Kontakte platform?

After employer and contractor have negotiated hiring terms and conditions, contractors will receive a notification via the !Kontakte App confirming the hiring. This confirms that the employer that agreed to hire you is in fact, registered with !Kontakte. If you do not receive this notification, contact the employer and request they send this via the App.

Does !Kontakte oversee hiring terms and conditions and payment between employer and contractor?

Hiring terms and conditions remain between employer and contractor.

!Kontakte conducts a level of due diligence on employers who are registered with us. Our company has strict polices on child labour and slavery and supports the rights of all workers to ‘decent’ work and labour standards as set out by the United Nations’ International Labour Organisation (ILO).

However, !Kontakte is not liable for any negligence, dispute or payment issues between employer and contractor.
